Accessibility

For Accessibility designs, I understand the requirements of the law (UK Disability Discrimination Act 1995 External link) and I use the latest techniques to ensure that my websites are accessible using the latest devices (like mobile phones) and as far as possible for people with disabilities.

XHTML Markup

National Design uses XHTML (the code behind a web page).

XHTML 1.0

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) External link recommends the use of XHTML for web publishing. National Design is written using XHTML, to improve the correct display of the website in a variety of web browsers and other devices, like mobile phones and Braille devices. This leads to better accessibility and better accessibility leads to more page views.

CSS technology

I use CSS technology in my websites for both formatting and laying out web pages. Cascading Style Sheets allow you to change the appearance of a website easily. CSS not only makes the website flexible, but also generates web pages which are easy to read using screen readers which are used by people with visual impairment. CSS technology makes a site achieve a far better ranking in major search engines like Google and Yahoo.
